Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Vice President of Communications and Public Relations to lead our communications strategy and oversee all public relations activities. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in legal and regulatory communications, with a proven track record of successfully managing complex communications issues in a highly regulated environment. This role will be pivotal in shaping and protecting the company’s reputation, ensuring clear and effective communication with stakeholders, and guiding the organization through regulatory challenges.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement comprehensive communication strategies aligned with the company’s goals and objectives.
  • Oversee the creation and dissemination of all internal and external communications, ensuring consistency in messaging and alignment with brand values.
  • Lead crisis communication efforts, providing strategic direction and managing the company’s response to critical situations.
  • Collaborate closely with the legal and compliance teams to ensure all communications adhere to regulatory requirements.
  • Develop and implement communication plans for regulatory filings, compliance updates, and other legal matters.
  • Manage communication related to litigation, regulatory investigations, and other legal issues, ensuring accuracy and consistency in messaging.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with media outlets, industry influencers, and key stakeholders.
  • Develop and execute proactive PR campaigns to enhance the company’s visibility and reputation.
  • Serve as the primary spokesperson for the company, representing the organization in media interviews, press conferences, and public appearances.
  • Foster effective communication with internal stakeholders, including employees, executive leadership, and the board of directors.
  • Engage with external stakeholders, including investors, regulatory bodies, and industry associations, to build and maintain positive relationships.
  • Build, lead and mentor a high-performing communications and PR team, fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.
  • Provide guidance and support to team members, encouraging professional growth and development.
  • Establish metrics to evaluate the effectiveness of communication strategies and campaigns.
  • Monitor industry trends, media coverage, and public sentiment to inform strategic decisions.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in communications and public relations, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
  • Proven experience in legal and regulatory communications within a highly regulated industry (e.g., healthcare, pharmaceuticals, etc.).
  • Experience in the pharmaceutical industry, particularly with major pharmaceutical companies, is a plus.
  • Experience interacting with federal regulatory agencies (FDA, DEA, etc.) is a plus.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling messages for diverse audiences.
  • Strong media relations skills and a network of industry contacts.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage crisis communications and navigate complex legal and regulatory issues.
  • Excellent leadership and team management abilities, with a track record of developing high-performing teams.
  • Strategic thinker with strong analytical skills and the ability to make data-driven decisions.
  • Familiarity with digital communication platforms and social media strategies.
  • Strong project management skills and the ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
