Our mission at Medium is to help people deepen their understanding of the world and discover ideas that matter. We are building a place where ideas are judged on the value they provide to readers, not the fleeting attention they can attract for advertisers. We are creating the best place for reading and writing on the internet.
We are currently looking for part-time curators for 3-month contracts starting July 1, 2025, to evaluate stories based on Medium’s Quality Standards. We are looking for candidates with experience in the following subjects:
  • Programming and Software Development: These curators understand technical content related to software developers and programmers. Areas of need include Data Science, Machine Learning, Python, Golang, Javascript, DevOps, AWS, Cybersecurity.
  • Design: Curators with experience and knowledge of web, app, and product design; includes User Experience, design tools, and high-level design strategy.
  • Evidence-backed Lifestyle: These curators are skilled at recognizing stories that reflect current scientific understanding. They may work on stories related to health and wellness, mental health, physical fitness, productivity, and a wide range of other topics.

Requirements and Details

  1.  This is a fully remote position (location and time zone independent).
  2.  Subject matter expertise in one of the three areas above.
  3.  Understanding of English grammar and style.
  4.  Able to read and evaluate articles quickly per our established quality standards, on both specialist and general topics.
  5.  A commitment to supporting diversity and inclusion through thoughtful curation practices. Expertise in content areas related to BIPOC, LGBTQIA+, and other traditionally underserved communities is a plus.
  6.  Ability to run Google Authenticator on your own phone.
  7.  Familiarity with Google Spreadsheets.
  8.  Ability to use Slack and communicate effectively with teammates.
  9.  Ability to work remotely and independently with strong accountability.
  10.  Available for 15–20 hours per week.
  11.  There is a potential to renew at the end of contract if needs continue.
