We are looking for an experienced program manager in Hardware/FW development to join our Hardware program management team. As a Toaster, you will be challenged to take on meaningful projects that will help craft the future of the company. Your primary responsibilities will be to work with a cross-functional team of Hardware Design Engineers, SW/FW Engineers, Product Managers, Industrial Designers, and Manufacturing partners to bring projects to completion. You will apply your project management skills and know-how to plan and execute key initiatives for the company.
About this roll* (Responsibilities)
- Lead new hardware product development programs from concept to mass production
- Create and execute project plans and revises to meet changing needs
- Identify project risks, develop and manage mitigation plans
- Deliver project objectives including product performance, schedule, cost and other KPIs
- Partner with our NPI Program Manager and Operation Program Manager to manage manufacturing partners to bring the development to mass production
- Understand Toast’s strategic priorities and drive alignment with the cross-functionally to deliver clear project plans
- Hold teams accountable for their commitments, removing roadblocks to their work. Leverage organizational resources to improve capacity for project work
- Ensure teams are adhering to Toast standards and best practices
- Proactively convey information clearly and accurately through various delivery methods, such as email, phone, Slack, WeChat, WhatsApp, etc.

- Establish and implement best practices/processes for the growing HW and Operation team during the development cycle
Do you have the right ingredients*? (Requirements)
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent practical experience
- 2+ years of technical program management working in consumer electronic products
- Track record in program management roles during all phases of product development cycles from concept to launch
- Knowledge of hardware engineering development and manufacturing processes
- Strong knowledge in a product development environment using agile and waterfall project management methodologies
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to drive tangible results promptly even when the work involves a high level of ambiguity
- Self-initiative and ability to work independently
- Strong collaboration and influencing skills
- Team player and creative thinker with the ability to lead cross-functional teams
- Ability to support domestically and internationally travel as needed
Special Sauce: (non-essential skills, nice to have)
- PMP certification
- Experience working on mobile tablets or POS devices development
- Understanding Product Development Phase Gate processes, Hardware development processes, ECN/ECO processes
- Experiences in MS Project, Smartsheet, MS Excel, Jira and Coda
