Yahoo Tech and Engadget are hiring a senior writer to expand our buying advice coverage of technology products and services. For this newly created position, we’re looking for someone with a broad knowledge of consumer electronics. Having specific expertise in laptops, TV, headphones, tablets, phones and home audio products would be a big positive. We’re looking for an enterprising journalist who can serve as a reviewer for Yahoo Tech and Engadget, with the agility to write for both tech enthusiasts and a broad general audience.
Responsibilities:
- Serve as one of Yahoo Tech’s resident experts on laptops (Windows, Macs and Chromebooks), TVs, phones, and more, writing a mix of original reviews and best lists, as well as some explainers.
- Write a variety of reviews and contribute to best lists on Engadget.
- Create, execute and document testing methodologies for these categories where necessary, ensuring that our recommendations are as detailed and authoritative as possible.
- Initiate periodic (weekly, biweekly, monthly) updates of the reviews and best lists, in consultation with your editor and the SEO team.
- Contribute to tentpole shopping events including Prime Day, Black Friday and Cyber Monday.
- Be available to contribute to features, explainers and newsletters, as well as create content reacting to real-time news and events in the tech space.
Requirements:
- A history, familiarity with and sincere interest in consumer electronics and online web services.
- Proven ability to produce clean, well-researched copy, and to sometimes juggle multiple deadlines.
- Works well with others, and is receptive to feedback.
- Experience and comfort writing and editing stories to search optimization.
