Formstack seeks an SVP of Engineering to bring our product and technology operations to the next level.  The SVP of Engineering will build upon our solid technical foundation and offer guidance and leadership regarding the SDLC process, organizational structure, and management systems. The ideal candidate will be able to be hands-on and prescribe development best practices for the rest of the team. The SVP of Engineering will set product, and technical vision working with the executive team and put processes in place to deliver on that vision predictably.

How You’ll Succeed:

– Collaborate with the Executive Leadership Team to make strategic decisions on technologies that align with the overall strategy and business objectives.

– Define Key Performance Indicators that measure the business value delivered by Engineering.

– Prioritize the company’s growth among competing alternatives by identifying innovative technologies and trends that affect the business and provide recommendations to overcome these challenges and successfully deliver the expected business outcomes

– Collaborate with the Chief Product Officer to create and champion a holistic product and technology roadmap and a process for organizational alignment

– Assist the ELT in evaluating M&A opportunities, formulate and execute acquisition integration plans

– Ensure the company’s safety with appropriate cybersecurity requirements, policies, and best practices

– Refine the SDLC methodology with appropriate systems, controls, and measures for bringing software to production and continuing to evolve.

– Identify, compare, select, and implement technology solutions that meet current and future needs for the Company’s Enterprise Applications and Platforms systems.

– Lead proof-of-technology evaluations and cultivate proof-of-concept prototypes and experiments that advance organizational learning and drive the development of new capabilities.

– Lead the architecture, design, coding, and deploying of full-scale systems based on critical business outcomes and communicate architectural decisions, plans, goals, and strategies, highlighting short-term trade-offs vs. long-term commitments.

– Establish an infrastructure that supports a cost management approach.

– Establish Quality Management and DevOps teams and best practices.

– Identify and create metrics and KPIs for assessing the team’s performance.

– Expand, coach, and mentor an industry-leading, globally distributed Engineering team.

– Establish a culture that provides career advancement opportunities and attracts top talent .

What We’re Looking For:

– Extensive years (10+) in IT roles, including experience in IT Technology Strategy and Roadmap and Enterprise Architecture, including management experience.

– Proven experience leading delivery functions driving digital transformation, technical innovation, and data strategy, leveraging emerging technologies and cloud platforms.

– Prior experience in successfully using cloud service providers to deliver enterprise-scale solutions that are resilient, secure, and dynamic.

– Executive presence with strong verbal and written communication skills.

– Expertise in one or more technology areas: API and SDK development and extensive systems integration experience, Build, Test & Automation Tools,  Amazon Web Services.

– Experience writing business cases (quantitative and qualitative) to support strategic technology initiatives, process improvement initiatives, and/or IT transformation recommendations.

– Expertise in information security and experience with PCI, GDPR, SOC2, and other compliance frameworks.

– Passion for excellence and delivering business value.

– Broad, diverse experience and knowledge of major technologies (legacy to emerging).

– Experience in Agile strategy, Agile transformation, or Agile operating model.

– Experience in DevOps design experience, CI/CD, and Product Based Operating Models.

– Ability to work creatively and analytically in a problem-solving environment.

– Strong driver of results, with the ability to partner with others to achieve results.

– Strong people leader and developer of talent.

– Comfortable with ambiguity and uncertainty; able to adapt nimbly and lead others through complex situations.

– Ability to cultivate networks with people from various business units, technology disciplines, operational functions, and locations.

– Ability to capture big-picture ideas and turn them into architectures, technology designs, and/or software that provides reusable capabilities and patterns.
