The Role: 

The Staff Accountant will play a key role in supporting the finance department by handling daily accounting operations. This position is responsible for payroll processing, managing accounts payable, accounts receivable, invoicing, revenue recognition tracking, bank reconciliations, expense reimbursements, government compliance, and preparing various financial reports. The ideal candidate will have strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently and independently.

What You’ll Be Doing:

Payroll Processing:

  • Implements, maintains, and reviews payroll processing systems to ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll transactions including salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes, and other deductions as well as any changes due to hiring, terminations, and pay rates.
  • Ensures accurate preparation, processing, and delivery of all regularly scheduled payrolls and off-cycle payrolls, as well as assists with employee payroll questions.
  • Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws and best practices.
  • Works collaboratively with People Ops on benefits, PTO, termination, leave,  supplemental pay, etc., and ensures all information communicated to employees is accurate.

Accounts Payable:

  • Manages end-to-end accounts payable processes, from receiving invoices to processing payments, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies.
  • Coordinates employee reimbursement procedures, verifying claims, and processing reimbursements in a timely manner.
  • Builds and maintains strong relationships with numerous vendors, addressing inquiries and resolving discrepancies.

Accounts Receivable & Invoicing:

  • Reviews completed contracts with the sales team to identify invoicing needs.
  • Compiles and maintains monthly Annual Recurring Revenue (ARR) balances for communication with key team leaders and presentation to stakeholders.
  • Prepares invoices for review and subsequent submission to customers for payment.
  • Maintains the Accounts Receivables Ledger by recording all Accounts Receivable transactions (payments, credits, invoices, etc.).
  • Resolves valid churn of ARR by following pending churn procedures.
  • Communicates with the Sales, Partner Success, and Client Services teams prior to contract renewals to gauge invoicing needs and impact to ARR projections.
  • Communicates and collaborates with the full Finance team to prepare budgets/revenue forecasts, monthly close procedures, and meet internal deadlines for documentation, meetings, and presentations.
  • Maintains records of invoices, debits, and credits to customer accounts.

General Accounting Support:

  • Performs monthly bank reconciliations to ensure accurate record-keeping of cash transactions
  • Assists in preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
  • Assists in month-end and year-end closing processes.
  • Compiles data for audits and other financial reviews as needed.
  • Monitors virtual email inbox and distributes documents to department leaders as needed.

What You’ll Need To Be Successful:

Must have: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Human Resources, or related field required.
  • 3 to 5 years of payroll processing and compliance experience.
  • 2+ years experience in accounts payable/accounts receivable
  • Proficient with payroll software.  Rippling preferred.
  • Stay current and comply with federal, state, and local legal and payroll regulatory requirements, and advise management when necessary.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.

  • Bonus: Certified Payroll Professional (CPP), Certified Payroll Manager (CPM) or Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC)

Compensation

Our compensation package includes a salary of $90,000-$105,000, an incentive bonus, and equity options.
