ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Senior Toxicologist will provide toxicology expertise for current products and development of new technologies consistent with Juul current growth, innovation, and harm reduction platforms, and participate in domestic and international regulatory submissions. The Senior Toxicologist will be required to design/developing and execute pragmatic and scientifically defensible product integrity assessments that aligns and facilitates human risk assessment and as needed reduced-risk substantiation. The Senior Toxicologist will be required to interact cross-functionally and across product development, regulatory affairs, quality, engineering departments and contract manufacturing organizations. This important, highly technical position reports to the Senior Director of Product Integrity/Toxicology at Juul Labs.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Interpret, evaluate, and synthesize complex data and information related to toxicology and human health risk assessment and provide toxicological input for internal stakeholders including regulatory affairs, product development, government affairs, communications, etc.
  • Provide product stewardship expertise across products, materials, ingredients, technologies, manufacturing processes, etc. for Juul
  • Assist with design/conduct and monitoring of necessary in vitro and in vivo studies for use in product/material risk assessments
  • Utilize relevant data and information to develop health risk assessments with appropriate documentation for product/material evaluations
  • Lead/participate on cross-functional teams, providing scientific expertise while representing Product Integrity/Toxicology
  • Monitor and address the complex chemical, toxicological and biological issues related to the ingredients and materials used in the production of the company’s products
  • Assist with preparation and/or review of materials for regulatory submissions
  • Participate in national and international scientific meetings and conferences to maintain and expand toxicological knowledge and expertise

PERSONAL AND PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Training and understanding relevant to conduct health risk assessments of consumer products (e.g., tobacco, cosmetics, household products), medical devices, pharmaceuticals, or chemicals
  • Track record of successfully participating in team-based projects
  • Working knowledge of applicable regulations and tobacco product policies in the with US and EU preferred
  • Excellent project management and track record of successfully participating in team-based projects
  • Excellent analytical, interpersonal, written and oral communication skills

EDUCATION:

  • PhD or Master’s in Toxicology, Pharmacology, or related discipline
  • 5+ years of toxicology experience candidates with PhD and 10+ years of toxicology experience with candidates with Master’s (academic or industry)
  • DABT preferred

Salary varies by role, level and location, and is dependent on the cost of labor in a given
geographic region among other factors. These ranges may be modified at any time.
