The Role

We’re looking for an enthusiastic Director, Finance Operations who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. The individual will join a skilled team and will be responsible for leading all general accounting and financial planning and analysis, including compliance with Statutory and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, at Quanata, LLC and the HiRoad Assurance Company.

Your day-to-day

  1. Maintain, enhance, and create financial models to support company and department-level forecasting to meet business objectives including assisting with roll-out & growth initiatives and filings.
  2. Lead and supervise the Accounting and FP&A functions to meet individual, team, and company OKRs, including oversight of daily operations, monthly close, and annual budgeting processes.
  3. Ensure management reporting is robust enough to support changing business landscapes, including monthly financial review meetings, board materials, and ad hoc reporting
  4. Along with the Internal Controls team, steward the annual financial auditing process to ensure clean auditing reporting and strong working relationships with the auditing firm.
  5. Ensure internal controls are effectively implemented and maintained, including up-to-date documentation of processes and process flows.
  6. Participate in or lead process improvements for the department, including evaluating systems and methodologies, determining pain points and bottlenecks and recommending remediation, and building consensus across enterprises.
  7. Work cross-enterprise with diverse functional teams to ensure a smooth finance operating model.
  8. Other duties as assigned

About You

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 10+ years of related experience and demonstrated success leading all finance and accounting functions of a company
  • Successful completion of a workplace simulation
  • Prior use of accounting software, G-suite products, and Excel
  • Team player with ability to work and communicate effectively with cross-functional teams
  • Ability to navigate, escalate, and lead accounting efforts as necessary
  • Ability to build and maintain strong working relationships
  • Ability to apply past learnings and expertise to new projects and initiatives
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Aptitude to learn new technologies quickly

Bonus Points

  • Prior Insurtech experience is very strongly preferred
  • Insurance experience preferred across multiple finance functions.

Salary: $208,000 to $260,000*

*Please note that the final salary offered will be determined based on the selected candidate’s skills, and experience, as well as the internal salary structure at Quanata. Our aim is to offer a competitive and equitable compensation package that reflects the candidate’s expertise and contributions to our organization.

  • Location: We are a remote-first company for most positions so you may work from anywhere you like in the U.S, excluding U.S. territories.  Occasional travel may be required for team meetings or company gatherings.  Employees based in the San Francisco Bay Area or in Providence, Rhode Island may commute to one of our local offices as desired.
  • Hours: We maintain core meeting hours from 9AM – 3PM Pacific time for collaborating with team members across all time zones.
