Overview:

Reporting to our Chief Accounting Officer, you will lead the revenue accounting team responsible for the company’s global revenue for accurate and timely reporting. You will also be responsible for the consistent application of revenue recognition policies, procedures, and controls. This role will have four direct reports, already part of the team.

You will:

  • Lead an internal and external team to complete global revenue and sales commissions month-end close process, reconciliations, and preparation of relevant sections of the financial statements in accordance with US GAAP.
  • Be the subject-matter expert on the treatment of revenue accounting transactions under ASC 606 to identify and apply technical guidance related to software and SaaS revenue recognition, managing accounting policies and memos related to revenue, and provide training to internal staff on technical accounting matters.
  • Research accounting guidance and prepare technical memos documenting our position on revenue transactions.
  • Provide reporting relating to daily operations, monthly and quarterly financial reporting and strategic analysis.
  • Work with external auditors to ensure approved revenue policies are followed and monitored, improve closure of revenue accounting matters and annual audits and quarterly reviews. Prepare schedules and reports to support annual audit, ensuring that all deliverables are met.
  • Partner with several stakeholders across the business including sales, sales operations, services, internal audit, legal, product management, FP&A, data management team and IT. Participate in the review and evaluation of deal structures to ensure revenue recognition while promoting positive customer relations. Provide expertise on revenue related to new product introductions and new business expansion.
  • Support sales transactions within the boundaries of ASC 606, but with an eye towards growing the top line.
  • Maintain internal controls to ensure compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley 404.
  • Evaluate processes, and drive system implementation and enhancements including integrations from Salesforce, Zuora, RevPro, and SAP.

You have:

  • BS/BA degree in accounting.  CPA with Big 4 experience required.
  • A minimum of 10 years’ experience, preferably with a mix of public accounting experience and corporate revenue accounting.
  • Deep understanding of ASC 606 and ability to apply the guidance to different revenue recognition methodologies, such as, but not limited to:
    • 1) subscription-based method or deferred revenue method, 2) the percentage of completion method, 3) milestone method, and 4) cost recoverability method.
  • Excellent analytical skills pertaining to revenue transactions and contract structure to maximize revenue in the current and future periods.
  • Experience communicating and collaborating with the legal, sales, and engineering departments.
  • Knowledge of SOX and SEC rules and regulations related to revenue recognition and processes around entity-produced information that is the basis for revenue recognition.
  • Deep experience writing revenue-related technical memorandums for use by internal and external auditors and regulatory agencies, if necessary.
  • Prior experience in thinking strategically when the Company develops and introduces new products and sales processes in order for revenue to be maximized within the constraints of current systems and processes.
  • Possesses a high degree of integrity, honesty, and transparency in their work to ensure that revenue is recorded and reported accurately.
  • Global experience building and motivating high-performing teams while fostering a culture of integrity within their team.
  • Superior Excel skills (formula design, pivot tables, charts) and managing large sets of data.
  • Superior Google/Microsoft Office product skills.
  • Zuora RevPro, and Salesforce experience.

 

Benefits:

The salary range for this role will be between $160,000 to $200,000. Final compensation will be determined by a variety of factors, including your location, and your experience, education, and certifications. During the phone screening, the recruiter will provide the location-specific salary range for this role.
