Hospitable.com is a remote-only and fully distributed company. We hire based on timezones.

We are currently on the lookout for a Director of Operations and Finance to join our team.

What you will be working on?

As a Director of Operations and Finance, your mission is to facilitate our business growth while keeping our company simple.

You will be to the go-to contact for our 50+ team for all things administrative in nature. As it turns out, our CEO (Pierre-Camille, referred to PC here — whose favorite ice cream flavor is raspberry) really turned into a Chief Administrative Officer, and is looking forward to you firing him from this role.

You will be accretive and you can expect to work on strategic projects that contribute positively to our bottom line.

We consider this a generalist role, encompassing a wealth of experience in particular around operations and finance. Here are some ideas of the projects the right person will work on:

  • Financial Management: Oversee the financial planning, budgeting, and reporting processes, ensuring alignment with company objectives. This includes in particular reviewing our financial statements with our finance team and communicating it to our stakeholders (including our investors).
  • Compliance and Risk Management: Ensure compliance with financial regulations (such as sales tax, lodging tax, KYC & AML processing) and develop strategies to mitigate operational risks. This includes for example inter-company transfer pricing, GDPR and SOC-II Type 2 compliance, and management of employees across our entities and setup.
  • Operational Excellence: Develop, implement, and optimize operational processes to enhance efficiency and productivity across departments. This includes in particular protecting our margin with procurement, and specific operations-led projects in the company (such as internationalization, or NetSuite automation).

Our finance team includes today one fractional CFO (focused on FP&A), a part-time financial controller, one senior accountant and one bookkeeper working across our 3 existing entities. Our operations team is today limited to one HR & Ops associate, with several processes operational by their nature being distributed across the team.

Requirements

To succeed in this role, we are looking for senior candidates who meet the following criteria:

  • Proven Experience: Significant experience in operations and finance leadership roles, preferably within a tech or SaaS environment. As such, you know and can fully expect that the nature of your role changes every 6 months.
  • Strategic Thinker: Ability to develop and implement long-term strategies that align with organizational goals.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a data-driven approach to decision making.
  • Leadership: Excellent leadership and team management capabilities, with a track record of building high-performing teams.
  • Exceptional Communication: Outstanding verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Adaptability: Comfortable in a fast-paced, remote working environment and able to adapt to changing circumstances.
  • Financial Acumen: Deep understanding of financial principles, including forecasting, and internal auditing.

Benefits

The company itself is also a product, one that we iterate on. We’re always improving and creating an environment where we all love to work.

  • A supportive and caring team environment, where you are trusted, not managed.
  • We hire internationally for this position. We can hire talent internationally as contractors — or employees if you are based in the United States, the European Union, or Australia.
  • The total cost of employment (irrespective of contractor or employee status) for this role is within $175,000 – $195,000 depending exclusively on the cost of living in your location. For example, taking into account payroll taxes and cost of benefits, the same cost of employment results in a gross compensation of $149,000 to $165,000 in the United States.
  • We also offer an extra incentive into our equity with RSUs through our $HOST token (not tied to location or status).
  • For US employees: healthcare (including EPO, PPO and HSA), 401(k).
  • 35 days off per year, encouraged (including self-serve public holidays) and parental leave.
  • Mental health and emotional support with therapists on call through Slack.
  • Recognized on Inc.’s list of Best Workplaces for 2023.
