Role Description

As Givebutter’s Director of Data Strategy, you’ll play a leading role in driving a Culture of Data and the strategic use of data within the company, providing actionable insights that shape our business decisions and growth trajectory. Reporting directly to the VP of Finance, the Director of Data Strategy will be the cornerstone of our data initiatives, scale and develop the Data team and ensure the alignment of data strategies with our financial objectives and overall business plan.

Responsibilities

  • Architect and lead the implementation of a comprehensive data strategy that aligns with and accelerates the company’s strategic objectives.
  • Build, mentor, and lead a world-class data analytics and data engineering team, promoting a culture of excellence, innovation, and continuous improvement.
  • Spearhead the analysis of complex data sets to uncover trends, generate insights, and identify business optimization opportunities across all areas of the company.
  • Design and implement advanced data architectures and infrastructures that ensure the scalability, reliability, and security of our data ecosystem, supporting both current and future business initiatives.
  • Forge strong partnerships with senior leadership and cross-functional teams to define and track key performance indicators (KPIs), ensuring that insights and recommendations drive actionable business outcomes.
  • Champion the development and enforcement of data governance and quality standards to ensure the integrity and privacy of our data assets.
  • Lead the evaluation and adoption of cutting-edge data technologies, tools, and methodologies to maintain a competitive edge in data analytics and strategy.
  • Provide regular, data-driven reports and presentations to the executive team and key stakeholders, highlighting insights, trends, and recommendations that guide strategic planning and decision-making.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 6 years of experience in data analytics or a related field, with at least 3 years in a leadership role managing data teams.
  • Deep expertise in data strategy, analytics, and architecture, with a strong foundation in database design principles.
  • Advanced proficiency in data analysis and visualization tools (e.g., SQL, Python, R, Hex, etc).
  • Exceptional leadership and communication skills, with a track record of effectively leading data-driven initiatives and teams.
  • Strategic thinker with an analytical mindset, capable of translating data insights into impactful business strategies.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field; Master’s preferred.

$165,000 – $185,000 a year

This role will be eligible for an attainment bonus and equity.
