As a Data Engineer, you’ll contribute to a variety of projects that range from designing robust and fully automated ETL processes to building tools for improving company-wide productivity with data.

You have a passion for implementing, and operating stable, scalable, and efficient solutions to flow data from production operational systems into the data warehouse, and then route insights back to the operational systems You are curious about all the nuances in the source data systems & always make an effort to assert data quality checks and improve documentation.

You are passionate about data engineering best practices and exploring new technologies which continuously evolve 1Password’s data infrastructure and services.

This is a remote opportunity within Canada and the US.

What we’re looking for:

  • 3+ years experience with Big Data technologies (Hadoop, M/R, Hive, Spark, Metastore, Presto, Flume, Kafka, Kinesis, ClickHouse, Flink, Airflow/Prefect, etc.)
  • 3+ years experience with Data Warehousing or Data Lake technologies.
  • 3+ years proficiency in Python and SQL.
  • Proficiency with DBT or other data transformation tool.
  • Experience developing data-pipelines to and from CRM and marketing tools (Salesforce, Marketo, Intercom, etc.)
  • Experience with BI tools (We use Looker, Tableau, Qlikview, Domo)
  • Experience with Agile software development methodologies.
  • A team player with a solution oriented attitude with both technical and soft skills to get things done.
  • You’re a self-starter who can operate with little guidance and close out issues without waiting to be asked.

What you can expect:

  • Collaborate with product managers, analysts, data scientists, engineering, and business partners to explore and ingest new data sources and build pipelines using SQL/python and Big Data technologies.
  • Working alongside the Data Reliability Team, ensure that data integration and transformation processes are appropriately tested.
  • Identify key business requirements for data needs from business and technical perspectives, and represent key data insights in a meaningful way.
  • Build data expertise and leverage data controls to ensure privacy, security, compliance, data quality, and operations.
  • Explore and learn the latest data infrastructure technologies to provide new capabilities and increase efficiencies.
  • Establish solid design and best engineering practice for engineers as well as non-technical people.
  • Maintain production pipelines via automation for alerting/notification on warnings/failures, and resolving issues promptly.

USA-based roles only: The Annual base salary for this role is between $112,000 USD and $152,000 USD, plus immediate participation in 1Password’s benefits program (health, dental, 401k and many others), utilization of our generous paid time off, an equity grant and, where applicable, participation in our incentive programs.

Canada-based roles only: The Annual base salary for this role is between $99,000 CAD and $135,000 CAD, plus immediate participation in 1Password’s generous benefits program (health, dental, RRSP and many others), utilization of our generous paid time off, an equity grant and, where applicable, participation in our incentive programs.
