As a Community Event Coordinator at Backflip, you will play a pivotal role in planning, organizing, and executing events that promote Backflip’s mission and values while also contributing to the development of scalable processes and operational efficiencies. With 2-4 years of relevant experience, you will leverage your expertise in event coordination to create memorable and value-add experiences for Backflip members across the US, both virtually and in person. Coachability and eagerness to own processes is a must as we grow the amazing Backflip community together.
This is a rare opportunity to get in on the ground floor (~50 person team) working directly with executives in a fast-paced and well-capitalized startup (Series A).
What You’ll Do:
Event Planning and Processes:
- Own the requirements, objectives, budget and execution of in person and virtual events. Backflip objectives include creating relationships with new and existing real estate investors by onboarding them to the Backflip app, deepening relationships and community, providing education and resources, and facilitating connections between Backflip members.
- Create and execute detailed event plans including timelines, event needs and communications schedule.
- Source and negotiate with vendors and suppliers to secure the best services and pricing.
- Develop scalable processes and operational efficiencies and collaborate with the Director of Community to implement.
- Collaborate with the Director of Community to develop and implement scalable processes and increase operational efficiencies.
Logistics Management:
- Oversee all logistics related to events in existing markets including venue set up, equipment, and any transportation.
- Coordinate with vendors, contractors, staff and speakers to ensure seamless event execution.
Communication & Coordination:
- Act as the main point of contact for vendors, speakers, Backflip staff and members for events.
- Maintain clear and consistent communication throughout the planning and execution process and provide regular updates to speakers and Backflip events staff on the progress of the events.
Budget Management:
- Monitor and maintain events budgets to ensure projects remain within financial guidelines.
- Maintain an accurate record of all event-related expenses and ensure cost effectiveness.
Post Event Evaluation:
- Gather feedback from speakers, vendors, and Backflip staff to assess the success of events.
- Create post-event recommendations for improvement and lessons learned.
This role will evolve as the company grows; there will be various tasks that fall outside of the responsibilities above.
Qualifications
- Proven track record of organizing successful events
- 2-4+ years of experience in event coordination, planning or operations
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
- Coachability and eagerness to learn
- Excellent vendor management and negotiation skills
- Creative problem-solving and adaptability
- Aptitude for creating and scaling efficiencies in operational processes
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends
- Experience with software including Eventbrite, Hubspot, Notion and Google preferred
- Willingness to travel and host local events

$75,000 – $100,000 a year
*compensation is based on a variety of factors including prior experience, and may fall outside of the stated range for certain candidates. In addition to a competitive market salary + incentive bonus, employees receive equity stock options, paid health care, a 401K + company match, among other benefits.
