Hubspot’s Employee Technology (ET) team is on a mission to enable our business with powerful and safe automation capabilities. As a fast-growing and dynamic scale-up company, we have countless needs and opportunities to re-engineer existing business processes and create new business processes. A key part of our internal growth strategy is to do that with as much self-service and automation as possible, because we want to drive efficient, durable, long-term growth. Today, ET’s “Intelligent Automations Engineering” (IAE) team manages Workato in a ‘Center of Excellence’ (COE) model. This has been a successful program so far, with more than 250 certified systems professionals across the business using Workato to solve their automation challenges.
Change is happening fast. First, In order to keep pace, we want to embrace the newest Workato capabilities and features, as well as to craft a portfolio of automation capabilities that the business can use. We expect to pioneer solutions using AI, MCP and Agentic technologies. Second – As the COE, we need to lean more into enablement and guardrails such that we ensure high quality solutions are being built, within compliance and data-safety guardrails, at scale. We’re looking for technologists to join our team and help us achieve these two goals.
In this role, you’ll be expected to use a variety of technologies – including emerging tech – to expand our intelligent automation capabilities and enable the users of our tools to drive business efficiency. You will partner with business leaders in distributed operations and systems teams to understand and solve business challenges. You will advise on solution design and be a steward of high quality technical work.
In this role you will:
- Perform hands-on technical work every day with a variety of different technologies (iPaaS, PaaS, AI, SaaS, open-source, custom software – and combinations thereof) to solve impactful business problems
- Help expand our team’s impact by contributing to the creation of a more comprehensive set of automation capabilities and driving adoption and success
- Collaborate, Architect, and Advise the various “citizen development pods” around HubSpot
- Partner with business leaders and fellow systems professionals to understand their problems, advise on solutions, review their work, and make them successful
- Contribute to scaling and evolving our Center of Excellence model through documentation, written guardrails, playbooks, etc
- Mentor and provide guidance to our citizen developers and IAEs across the organization to help them upskill and be successful in their automation journey.
What we’re looking for:
- Scripting or software development experience in Python, Ruby, JavaScript, or Java
- Demonstrated technical aptitude and natural curiosity to explore new technologies, understand how they work, and deploy them appropriately
- Strong understanding of how to identify the right problems to solve and build solutions iteratively
- Proven success in integrating multiple cloud-based systems
- Experience creating automation and business solutions with iPaaS and low/no-code tools (Workato experience is a major plus)
- Experience that has shaped informed opinions on which types of technologies are best suited to which types of problems
- Experience leveraging AI and enabling its use across departments or company-wide
- Ability to advise, coach, and guide department-level solutions from inception through deployment
- Comfort meeting with stakeholders, understanding their needs, and translating them into innovative solutions
It’s awesome, but not required if you have:
- Experience with cloud infrastructure services (AWS especially)
- Experience with various message queuing and streaming technologies
- Experience administrating enterprise level applications
Pay & Benefits
The cash compensation below includes base salary, on-target commission for employees in eligible roles, and annual bonus targets under HubSpot’s bonus plan for eligible roles. In addition to cash compensation, some roles are eligible to participate in HubSpot’s equity plan to receive restricted stock units (RSUs). Some roles may also be eligible for overtime pay. Individual compensation packages are tailored to your skills, experience, qualifications, and other job-related reasons.
