Overview
We have an exciting opportunity to join GitHub’s Procurement team as a Contracts Manager.
In this role, the Contracts Manager supports GitHub in skillfully drafting and negotiating a diverse portfolio of agreements to support the diverse needs of the GitHub business.
The position entails working closely with a number of internal teams and external parties.
Responsibilities:
- Draft, review and negotiate a diverse portfolio of procurement agreements
- Advise and assist internal customers by explaining contract terms and conditions of these agreements
- Communicate with and secure decisions from internal customers
- Craft persuasive arguments to influence external parties during negotiations
- Manage the contract negotiation process
- Maintain positive and productive relationships with internal GitHub teams and external parties
- Actively contribute to the improvement of contracting processes to maximize efficiency and effectiveness (templates & playbooks)
- Maintain and update contract records, changes, reports, and other metadata
- When needed, provide training and education to GitHub staff regarding agreements and processes
- Monitor contract compliance in accordance with established playbooks
- Work with other teams (e.g. finance, tax or legal) on contract requirements
- Escalate to responsible attorney those issues which require legal advice
- Performs additional duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
- Degree in business, administration, law, or related field
- Experience as a contract manager or in a related position and experience negotiating a wide range of commercial contracts
- Experience working with vendors and service providers on the purchase of a variety of inbound products, services, and technology, particularly Software as a Service
- Proven ability to negotiate and manage large, complex product and services agreements with a variety of vendors, suppliers, and partners
- Advanced knowledge of contract lifecycle management
- Ability to work independently while being able to contribute successfully to cross-functional teams
- Experience working remotely
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to review and analyze complex information
- Demonstrated customer service skills in a fast-paced, high-volume, dynamic and intellectually challenging work environment
- Excellent interpersonal skills, sound judgment and the ability to conduct negotiations in a timely manner
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with Ironclad or other CLM system
- 5-10 years relevant experience in a younger, fast-moving technology company
