About the Role

The VP of Data & Insights will develop, manage and lead the Data & Insights team of 65 people comprising Data Science and Analytics, BI, Data Visualization, Data Engineering, Digital Analytics, Machine Learning, and Research functions; and prepare it to scale, foster a data and insights-driven decision-making culture aligned with the outcomes-driven Company strategy, collaborate with leaders across the company and the senior management to identify strategic opportunities to optimize the value of data, and set up processes that ensure data & analysis quality and consistency and that lead to the creation of a consolidated body of quantitative and qualitative knowledge.

The VP will also lead the creation of data parameterization, top-notch scalable tools, processes and data infrastructure, develop advanced analytics and Machine Learning functions, and build data products that nurture the customer journey and enable an augmented product experience.

Here’s what you’ll do:

Develop the Data & Insights team

  • The VP of Data & Insights will develop, manage and lead the team and prepare it to scale. The role will be responsible for establishing the right team structure, helping the current members upskill and hiring high-performing A-players as needed, keeping an eye on building the required capabilities for long-term success as we scale.
  • As the Data & Insights team leader, the VP will be an inspiring leader that fosters a healthy and collaborative culture that embodies our values of transparency, trust, and getting stuff done. Ensuring the team works cooperatively, coordinated, feels empowered, and uses the best processes and tools at each stage for their highest impact and collective success.
  • The team scope includes Data Platform, Machine Learning, Tracking, Business Intelligence, Data Science and Research supporting the whole organization.
  • The VP will innovate with and expand the organization’s research and analytics offerings — emerging analytical approaches, skills and technologies. Define processes for the effective, integrated introduction of new data.

Develop data and outcomes- driven culture

  • Foster a data- and insights-driven decision-making culture aligned with the outcomes-driven Company strategy, developing the tools and infrastructure needed to empower all leaders and decision-makers with relevant, timely, and accurate data. This includes the governance of data and algorithms used for analysis and automated decision making.
  • Work with the Leadership Team (C-level executives) to establish vision, to govern and to create a culture that manages data as a company asset. Be an advocate for data, and not just a governor of it, by encouraging use of data as a source of value to make the best decisions, not just controlling and monitoring it.
  • Be the executive with responsibility and accountability to exploit the value of Typeform’s data assets and the analytics used to render insights for decision making and reporting.
  • Institute a pragmatic approach to identify, prioritize and execute the data and analytic initiatives with clear line of sight to Typeform’s strategy and business outcomes. Drive the strategy, development and deployment of the Typeform’s data and analytics products.
  • Surface strategic and tactical business opportunities including research and develop new data products or services to expand markets, monetize data (directly and indirectly) and grow company revenue.

Ensure all data needs are covered company-wide and create a consolidated body of quantitative and qualitative knowledge.

  • Institute a pragmatic approach to identify, prioritize and execute the data and analytic initiatives with clear line of sight to Typeform’s strategy and business outcomes. Drive the strategy, development and deployment of the Typeform’s data and analytics products.
  • Having a cross-functional and cross-organizational role, drive consistency in the business use of data, including agreements about business semantics and definitions, data ownership, business rules, targets and goals. Create and maintain consistency in all these areas across projects and the whole organization.
  • Lead the creation of a consolidated body of quantitative and qualitative knowledge, establishing a single, reliable, and accurate Source of Truth, avoiding data silos; and establishing a solid, in-depth quantitative understanding of our customers.
  • Identify new kinds, types and sources of data to drive business innovation throughout the organization.
  • Creates processes and controls for the appropriate protection of data through a defined life cycle, from acquisition or creation to end of life destruction.
  • Ensure that the data used for decision-making and financial reporting is valid, reliable, traceable, timely, available, secure and consistent.
  • Develop methods to ensure consistent application and use of analytics.
  • In summary, be responsible for providing a single source of truth to nurture the full organization with high-quality, relevant and timely data, which is digestible, and relevant for the different stakeholders in the organization.

About You

Here’s what we are after:

  • 15+ years of progressive experience in the technology industry
  • Entrepreneurial leadership experience with high-growth, SaaS products within larger companies
  • Proven ability to develop strategic plans to transform organizations and drive growth through successful data products and services
  • Experience managing a large Data & Insights team E2E both as a service organization to other teams and as an independent R&D/Development center.
  • Technical expert, who can roll up their sleeves and help individuals build data models, put code into production or be part of the conversation on the right databases for DWH needs.
  • Ability to attract, engage and retain talented Data Scientists and Machine Learning individuals.
  • Proven ability to scale the team and coach leaders.
  • Overachiever in generating business impact through actionable data insights.
  • Has a good understanding of the key concepts associated with funnel optimization:
  • Proven ability to and researcher’s desire for perfection and statistical significance.
  • Experience in CRM, CDP will be highly appreciated.
  • Record of outstanding success at organizations that prize innovation, collaboration, customer service, and sales results
