The VP of Strategic Growth and Chief of Staff is an exceptionally talented individual who serves on the Executive Leadership Team as a trusted advisor and confidant to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO). The ideal candidate thrives at the intersection of operations and strategy. This individual will work across functions, industries and geographies, launching new programs, and helping build global teams. Continuous improvement is important, so it is not enough to get the job done. Beyond delivering, it is important to look for ways to make the organization stronger and ensure that clients are even better served. This is a unique opportunity to see every aspect of a fast-growing unicorn at the CEO level.

This position can work from anywhere in the US, but requires willingness to work West Coast hours as needed.

This role will have 3 main functions:

  • Strategy (synthesis and whitespace)
  • Growth initiatives (research and incubate)
  • Chief of Staff to the CEO

Within those functions, your responsibilities will include:

  • Lead corporate strategy efforts by synthesizing long and near term goals based on a superior understanding of our market, customers, competitors as well as adjacency opportunities. Strong partnership with the executive leadership team is required.
  • Partner with CFO to assist with near and long-term planning/budgeting as well as capital allocation
  • Partner across internal and external stakeholders to identify potential growth ideas that align with our strategic objectives
  • Incubate new, white space initiatives to drive growth
  • Project managing new, key specific initiatives that otherwise lack an owner; transitioning projects to other members of the management team where applicable
  • Working with the CEO to maintain strategic alignment across the organization
  • Organizing agendas for executive staff meetings and planning sessions, attending meetings and driving agenda, and driving follow up on action items
  • Preparing Board of Director materials
  • Drafting key memos to internal/external stakeholders, including investor updates, company announcements, and press releases
  • Serving as a proxy for CEO in operations not requiring his direct involvement
  • Provides leverage to the CEO, and in some cases, the broader Executive Team in an effort to maximize organizational growth and effectiveness

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree; MBA a plus but not required
  • Ability to work West Coast hours
  • 5+ years of consulting and/or corporate strategy experience
  • 5+ years of operating experience, ideally running a team within Operations, Product or Business Development or some combination thereof
  • Strategic mindset, but doesn’t hesitate to roll up your sleeves to deliver results, with extreme ownership mentality
  • Self starter – demonstrated ability to get things done from ideation to implementation with little input needed
  • Trustworthy – used to handling confidential information with a high degree of integrity
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent organization and planning skills
  • Ability to successfully manage multiple projects simultaneously
