Overview

As senior vice president of development, you will lead the strategy and execution of all fundraising activities, including the major gifts program, international funding, annual campaigns, and special events, to enable Mercy For Animals to achieve its vision of a world where animals are respected, protected, and free to pursue their own interests.

You will manage and mentor a successful fundraising team and partner with organizational leadership to devise and implement a comprehensive fund-development plan to meet strategic objectives and financial goals.  

You will do invaluable work:

  • Deliver a successful and ambitious individual-giving campaign to cultivate, expand, and diversify Mercy For Animals’ global support base
  • Prepare and manage the Development Department budget, including projecting and achieving goals for both revenue and expenses
  • Provide periodic analyses of the progress, effectiveness, and efficiency of development programs and systems, identifying potential challenges and recommending solutions
  • Partner with the events team to ensure success of all fundraising and donor-cultivation events
  • Manage the day-to-day activities and workflow processes of the Development Department

Your qualifications will take the organization to the next level:

  • Minimum of 10 years of nonprofit experience, including five years of development leadership experience (required)
  • Bachelor’s degree in nonprofit management, business, or related field, with advanced training in development
  • Nonprofit experience managing an annual giving program of at least $5 million
  • Successful track record in individual and major giving, including experience managing restricted funding, with demonstrated success in major-donor cultivation and solicitation
  • Knowledge of financial management to allocate resources, prepare and manage budgets, analyze financial data, and project fundraising income
  • Expertise in building, managing, and mentoring successful fundraising teams
  • Willingness to travel frequently

Compensation and Benefits

Earn an annual salary of $75,000–$95,000, depending on qualifications. Our paid time-off policy, including 20 vacation days a year, staff-appreciation days, holidays, and sick leave, is as generous as our no- or low-cost health insurance. We also offer a 401(k) plan, not to mention a collaborative and innovative work environment.
