Overview

We are looking for a seasoned Head of Sales to oversee the Lean Startup Company’s fast-growing revenue-driving teams (Education Services, Client Management and Sponsorship Sales). The primary role of the Head of Sales is to own the sales strategy, sales process and management across all of our client-facing areas, while driving revenue growth across the organization.

This role will report directly to the Founder/CEO and work closely with Finance, Operations, Education, Events and Marketing to optimize our sales process including lead generation, lead distribution, pipeline management and strategic negotiations. In addition to being a proven seller and sales leader, the ideal candidate will have worked with senior-level executives of enterprise organizations ideally in a startup or consulting organization.

Experience in selling consulting services or other service-based offerings is a bonus.

About the Role:

This Senior sales role is remote but will involve bi-monthly leadership meetings in the San Francisco area (travel from anywhere in the US okay). Ideal candidate will have experience working with major enterprise partners.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage a team of remote, sales and account representatives
  • Work hand-in-hand with the CEO to develop sales initiatives and test new strategies
  • Leverage business relationships to drive sales revenue and achieve aggressive business goals
  • Be prepared to recruit, hire, mentor, train and nurture talented sales representatives
  • Lead the charge in exploring new business opportunities and verticals in the modern management/innovation consulting space
  • Consistently monitor the sales activity of the team, track and report results on a weekly basis
  • Coach each individual sales representative to maximize productivity and revenue
  • Be responsible for an annual booking/revenue quota with growth in subsequent years
  • Travel domestically and internationally as needed for high-level client meetings

Must haves. In order to be successful in this role, you must be able to demonstrate:

  1. Your ability to drive sales revenue growth YoY at a similar company
  2. Your ability to identify opportunities and grow enterprise accounts (your own deals as well as that of your team)
  3. Passion for and proven experience growing, coaching and developing a sales team

The Ideal Candidate:

  • 8+ years of service-based, B2B sales experience
  • 5+ years of B2B sales management and team leadership experience
  • Strong competency using Salesforce
  • Demonstrated track record of being a top performer with a proactive approach to sales management
  • A clear understanding of the methodology described in Eric Ries’ The Lean Startup and The Startup Way
  • A hunger for innovation
  • Proven ability to assess and address client needs effectively
  • Proven experience with data-driven sales methodologies
  • Demonstrated ability to professionally develop and coach team members
  • Strong presentation, written and verbal communications skills
  • Degree from a four-year college or university
  • Ability to interact with clients and teams in person and remotely
  • Proven experience working at a startup and ability to succeed in an entrepreneurial culture

  • Capability of expanding quickly into larger responsibilities as the company grows rapidly
