The Growth team is responsible for helping more people succeed with GitHub and become customers. We’re looking for a Growth Engineering Manager who will lead the Growth engineering team to increase customer acquisition, activation, retention, and revenue. The growth engineering team is collaborating with people from product, marketing, customer success, and design. The Growth area is cross-disciplinary and blends product, marketing, data science, and experimentation. Everything you work on will have a direct and measurable impact on GitHub’s business metrics and trajectory.

Responsibilities: 

  • Cultivate an environment where team members are empowered and demonstrate a strong sense of ownership and belonging
  • Drive goal-setting with your team and hold them accountable for results
  • Ensure the team is working productively cross-team and cultivating relationships to drive cross-departmental success
  • Ensure that individuals on the team are learning, growing and advancing in their respective careers
  • Foster a culture of experimentation and a growth mindset
  • Ensure the team builds software that is architecturally consistent, of high quality, and that follows operational best practices
  • Ensure the team, the company, and the GitHub community have a clear understanding of the direction of the projects and the reasoning behind decisions

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • 2+ years experience with mentoring engineers
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Appetite for seeing the impact of your team’s code on the business in weeks
  • Passionate about fostering good engineering practices and processes
  • Have worked with a distributed and global team

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Developed or managed a Growth team before
  • Experience or passion growing a business through scientific experimentation
  • Experience or passion for software that enables culturally diverse groups
