We’re looking for an experienced full-stack developer to join our team and help us develop and iterate the developer experience on Glitch. Developers use Glitch to build, share, and host web applications and static sites. Their code is backed by Git but users don’t need to know Git to benefit from it—there’s a lot of exciting work to be done in building an approachable, collaborative, and versioned developer experience on the web!
You’ll be joining a distributed team of creators who all bring varied experiences and skills to their work as designers and developers. We value collaboration, inclusion, and question-asking. We work cross-team with other engineers, product, design, and marketing teams to build our features.
Our stack includes React, XState, CodeMirror, Webpack, and Cypress. We build and deploy with Node.js and AWS.
We’re looking for people with these technical skills:
- Experience with React frontend systems
- Experience in building performant and a11y-compliant interfaces
- Understanding of and experience in using APIs, both internal and 3rd party
- Mentoring peers and sharing skills
We’d be particularly delighted to hire someone who:
- Has experience collaborating with team members in a mostly-remote company
- Has implemented plugin or extension systems like VS Code or Chrome
- Has worked with Git libraries or CodeMirror in the past
When you interview, you’ll start with a screening call and then a coding challenge you do in your own time. If you proceed to the next stage, you’ll speak with people from the team and company about your work history, career goals, and collaboration style. You’ll also discuss your coding challenge —no white boarding or live coding.
This position is based at our beautiful new office in Lower Manhattan, though we’ll happily consider US remote candidates as well. While our office is in New York City, about half of our employees are all over the US and the world. You’ll be part of a remote work culture where all of our meetings are online and apps and tools like Slack and Google Hangouts are the normal way to communicate. Remote workers never end up struggling to hear a meeting where everybody in the office forgot that someone was on the other end of a speakerphone.
We offer fair and competitive pay. The range for this position is $130K to $150K and we look at factors like your experience to determine our offer, which comes with a comprehensive benefits package.
