About the Director, Finance at Headspace:

Headspace has experienced success around the world with over 50 million people downloading the app since launching in 2010. Headspace is focused on accelerating this rapid growth to deliver on our vision of improving the Health & Happiness of the world. The North America Sales and Marketing Division is the largest division within Headspace, and comprises over  50% of the Headspace end paying subscribers.

Come join the Finance Team as a Senior Financial Business Partner, where you will lead the Finance function for the North America Sales and Marketing teams and help fuel and scale our expansion. You will be reporting to the Global FP&A Leader.

This finance leader works with content, marketing, partnership and sales teams dedicated to driving growth across the US and Canada with a focus on driving growth through strong financial discipline and strategic decision making. The responsibilities include forecasting, financial reporting, planning and analysis of the campaigns, pricing and GTM strategies. In addition, this role develops data driven insights and partners closely with key business leaders across Product Management, Content, Marketing, Operations, and Business Development teams to execute our vision of improving the health and happiness of the world. This role will also assist C-Suite business partners in developing and refining our 1- and 3-year strategic plans that ultimately manifest themselves in financial commitments.

We are looking for an experienced financial professional, with strong analytical skills and an innate commercial understanding. You will also have demonstrable experience of acting as a business partner, supporting and challenging non-finance stakeholders. As this role involves constant interaction with senior non-finance stakeholders across the business, you will need the confidence and emotional intelligence to effectively communicate at all levels. The ideal candidate will have worked in the high-tech industry and will enjoy operating in an extremely fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.

How your skills and passion will come to life at Headspace:

  • Key contributor to Business Strategy of the Headspace Commercial team, developing resulting priorities based on robust analytics and business direction
  • A trusted advisor to Sales and Marketing leadership team, proactively highlighting risk and opportunities related to business growth and optimal investment decisions or outcomes and providing business modeling and what-if scenarios
  • A strong business partner to the Sales and Marketing teams leading planning, forecasting and business analytics that ultimately drive short, medium and long term decisions in investment and outcomes
  • Operating in a leader capacity, proactively influencing, leading & coaching across the Finance organization. Reporting into Finance executive leadership, this role is seen as the ‘go-to’ finance leader for the Sales and Marketing teams
  • Responsible for developing reporting junior finance team members through management and leadership
  • Driving investment decisions in e-commerce that result in desired ROI and business acquisition costs for Sales & Marketing initiatives
  • Exhibiting sound commercial acumen when evaluating sales channels, digital channels platforms and additional ways of driving business growth
  • Ensuring complete and accurate financial and management reporting
  • Responsible for ensuring budget adherence through OpEx tracking and reporting

What you’ve accomplished:

  • 7-10 years qualified experience in roles supporting business decision making in a finance capacity
  • At least 3-5 years of people management experience
  • MBA / CPA / CFA designation preferred but not required
  • Ideally will have knowledge and experience with SaaS/Cloud Computing and/or Direct Consumer Subscriber KPIs and metrics
  • Ideally will have experience in both private and public companies
  • Ability to influence all levels of leadership to drive actions, behaviors, decisions and business outcomes
  • Ability to lead teams to deliver exceptional results and drive business growth
  • Exceptional track record of self-motivation, prioritization, initiative, and integrity
  • Strong written and oral communication skills with experience in presenting to business partners with confidence, conviction, and credibility
  • Advanced experience with Excel and PowerPoint applications
  • Experience with ERP (e.g. NetSuite) and EPM (e.g. Adaptive Insights) systems
  • Experience with Salesforce and Tableau a plus
