As the Director of Compensation, you will play a critical role in developing and executing Lucid Motors’ compensation strategy to attract, retain, and motivate top talent. Reporting to the Head of Total Rewards, you will lead a team of compensation professionals and collaborate with cross-functional partners to ensure our compensation programs align with our business objectives and support our high-performance culture.
The preference is that this position be located on the West Coast with travel to our office in Newark, California.
The Role
- Develop and execute a comprehensive compensation strategy that aligns with Lucid Motors’ business objectives and supports our talent acquisition and retention goals.
- Lead the design, implementation, and administration of our compensation programs, including base salary, variable pay, and equity compensation, ensuring they are competitive, equitable, and compliant with relevant laws and regulations.
- Conduct market analysis and benchmarking to evaluate the competitiveness of our compensation programs and make recommendations for enhancements and improvements.
- Provide strategic guidance and expertise to senior leadership and HR business partners on compensation-related matters, including job evaluation, salary structure, and incentive plan design.
- Collaborate with Finance, Legal, and other stakeholders to ensure alignment and accuracy in compensation practices, policies, and reporting.
- Lead the annual compensation review process, including salary planning, bonus programs, and equity grants, ensuring timely and effective communication to employees.
- Stay informed about emerging trends, best practices, and legislative changes in the field of compensation and recommend innovative approaches to enhance our total rewards programs.
- Manage and develop a high-performing compensation team, fostering a culture of collaboration, continuous improvement, and exceptional service delivery.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field. Advanced degree or professional certification (e.g., CCP, GRP) is preferred.
- A minimum of 12 years of progressive experience in compensation, including significant experience in a leadership role.
- Strong knowledge of compensation principles, practices, and methodologies, including a variety of business disciplines (e.g., technical talent, manufacturing talent, sales talent).
- Demonstrated experience developing and implementing compensation strategies that align with business goals and drive organizational success.
- In-depth understanding of market analysis, benchmarking methodologies, and industry best practices in compensation.
- Experience partnering with senior leaders and HR stakeholders to provide strategic compensation guidance and influence decision-making.
- Familiarity with relevant laws and regulations governing compensation, including FLSA, IRS regulations, and SEC requirements.
- Proven track record of managing and developing a high-performing compensation team.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with a data-driven mindset.
- Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex compensation concepts to diverse audiences.
Salary Range: The compensation range for this position is specific to the locations listed below and is the range Lucid reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for the position taking into account the wide variety of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including job-related knowledge; skillset; experience, education and training; certifications; and other relevant business and organizational factors.
- California (Bay Area)– $185,000-$264,000
Additional Compensation and Benefits: Lucid offers a wide range of competitive benefits, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, disability insurance, vacation, and 401k. The successful candidate may also be eligible to participate in Lucid’s equity program and/or a discretionary annual incentive program, subject to the rules governing such programs.
