At Fishtown Analytics, we make data work.  Our open-source software, dbt, enables anyone who knows SQL to engineer, document, and test data pipelines.  By empowering analysts to work like and with data engineers, dbt drastically increases an organization’s ability to model and serve analytics. dbt is already used and loved by thousands of companies and our paid product, dbt Cloud, enables this workflow at scale.

Though dbt Cloud has a healthy freemium subscription base, we also have an enterprise tier for companies that need additional security features. As one of our first Customer Success Managers, you will be responsible for supporting the growth segment of these companies (1-500 employees) and helping to build the framework for customer success management at Fishtown Analytics.

In this role, you can expect to…

  • Operate as the main point of contact for your customers
  • Project manage the client onboarding and implementation process
  • Develop strong relationships with customer’s data and operations teams to anticipate future needs, increase adoption and expand usage within an account
  • Coordinate with Fishtown Analytics team members to ensure consistent service is delivered and product feedback is properly communicated
  • Manage the annual renewal process for each customer
  • Become an expert in dbt
  • Be an active member of the dbt open source community

We are looking for someone who has…

  • 3+ years experience, preferably in a data analyst or similar role
  • SQL proficiency. Your experience understanding, troubleshooting and optimizing SQL queries will be a key to your success in this role
  • An equal love for long-term customer relationship building, fielding technical questions and investigating solutions
  • High attention to detail
  • Ability to discuss and present complex technical concepts in clear and concise ways to a range of technical and non technical audiences
  • Excellent verbal, written, and in-person communication skills to interact with multiple levels of an analytics organization (individual developer up to CTO)
  • Organizational skills to build client relationships while building the processes to better support them
  • A passion for delivering a great customer experience
  • Ability to operate in an ambiguous and fast-paced work environment with integrity and accountability
  • A passion for being an inclusive teammate and involved member of the dbt community

You have an edge if…

  • You have past experience in a customer-facing role such as customer success manager, technical account manager, engagement manager or similar
  • You have prior experience in analytics, ETL/ELT, BI, and/or open source software
  • You have knowledge of or prior experience with dbt (!)

Compensation:

  • Salary: $80k – $130k On Target Earnings (OTE) consisting of a base salary and variable component
  • Equity: .02-.05%
  • Benefits: Unlimited vacation, 401k w/ 3% guaranteed contribution, excellent healthcare, and paid parental leave

What to expect in the hiring process:

  • Introductory phone interview with the Head of Customer Success Management (45 minute Zoom call)
  • After that we’ll ask you to complete a set of tasks that will take 1-2 hours to complete. The gist of the exercise will be to write out responses to some common customer scenarios, work through some basic SQL coding and query optimization, and prepare for a verbal review of a technical topic on a future call.
  • Task review the Head of Customer Success Management (45 minute Zoom call)
  • Potential follow-up interviews with a member of our Sales Team, Director of Customer Success, and CEO (45 minute Zoom calls)
