Overview

Right away, we’ve listed what we think you’ll be spending your time on.  We’re growing fast, and growth means the challenges we’ll work on together will change as we lead Loop through new and different phases.

This is an indispensable role with us, so we’ll be looking for you to have examples of when you’ve tackled these challenges throughout your career.  We’ve laid out the experience we think is important to set you up for success in this role.  But, we appreciate that different humans will solve problems in different ways, so we don’t expect you to fit exactly in a box of requirements.

Loop HQ is a state-of-the-art office located in Columbus, Ohio, and more than half of our team works remotely across the United States and Canada. You can choose to join us in the Columbus office or stay fully remote in this role.

As the first ever Controller to join Loop, you’ll own all aspects of our accounting and billing functions, and report directly to the CFO. You’ll play a critical role in building scalable accounting and billing functions, including systems, processes, and policies, to support our rapidly growing business as we change the future of ecommerce.

What You’ll Do:

  • You’re the first person to hold this title at Loop, and will be responsible for creating scalable accounting and billing functions from scratch.
  • Direct and own our accounting operations, including execution of operational accounting policy, general ledger, accounts receivable, accounts payable, revenue recognition under ASC606, and other accounting activities.
  • Oversee and own the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes including detailed analysis and reconciliation of all general ledger accounts and preparation of financial statements in compliance with U.S. GAAP.
  • You’ll plan for and drive Loop’s first audit and manage relationships with external auditors and tax/accounting advisors.
  • Deliver accurate and timely results and variance reporting to the management team, our investors, and the board of directors.
  • Manage and comply with local, state, and federal reporting requirements and tax filings.
  • Create, manage, own, and scale the billing function at Loop.
  • Support the annual planning and budgeting process.
  • Design, document and implement streamlined yet scalable accounting policies and procedures that incorporate internal strong controls.
  • Build a roadmap and timeline for bringing accounting functions in-house and implement financial systems to scale with the business.
  • Partner with the People team to recruit, hire and mentor a team of accounting and billing professionals as Loop grows.
  • Partner with the CFO, Sales, Marketing, People and Operations to scale our company-wide systems and processes.

Your Experience:

  • You have at least 10+ years of experience overseeing full-cycle accounting for venture-backed growth stage companies.
  • 3+ years of experience in accounting with B2B SaaS companies.
  • You’ve completed a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting; a CPA is a plus for us.
  • Deep knowledge and ability to apply U.S. GAAP standards and ASC 606.
  • Strong understanding of key drivers of a B2B SaaS business as well as metrics including ARR, gross and net retention, CAC, payback period, LTV, and more.
  • You have examples to share of how you’ve successfully led companies in creating and scaling accounting and billing functions in the past.
  • While public accounting experience is preferred, we would love to hear from you if you owned audited financial statements.

Loop has a dream for the future of commerce. We believe in a world where we’re more mindful about how we consume, we love every product we own and we share values with the brands who create them. We know that building lasting connections between humans can be magic, and we’re all rallying behind our vision to pioneer how to bring more of it to commerce.

We’re starting by revolutionizing the post-purchase experience. We’ve taken one of the most fragile commerce interactions – returns – and turned it into something consumers actually love, and that deepens our connection to brands and products.

We take connection seriously on the inside, too. We’re building a humane work experience that prioritizes empathy and wellbeing. We view Loop as a special place in your career to shape the future of an industry and become a better person while doing it.
