The Humane League is an international farm animal advocacy group. THL fosters a high-energy culture of teamwork and mission-driven problem solving, and we have earned recognition as Top Charity from Animal Charity Evaluators for all of their rating periods. Over the past few years, The Humane League has positioned itself for growth. We have a current staff size of 50+ dispersed across the country and internationally. We are looking for an Assistant Video Producer to help bring our mission of creating unique and inspiring storytelling to life!

Your position would be an essential role in all accomplishing all of The Humane League’s video productions. This is a full-time, remote position with occasional travel. This is a US-based position. We are only able to consider applicants who possess United States work authorization.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

Pre-Production:

  • Contribute concepts for videos and series.
  • Find content inspiration.
  • In partnership with our Social Media Team, explore video opportunities in new creative outlets (IGTV, Facebook Stories, etc).
  • Assist in scheduling, securing locations and dates for various productions (e.g. communicating with talent/clients for planning shoots, reaching out to local activists to be interviewed, getting price quotes from studios for larger productions).
  • Build projected and final production budgets.

Production:

  • Contribute on-site with camera and audio equipment.
  • Assist with lighting and camera movements.
  • Understand the sensitivity of certain subjects, while being able to maintain professionalism.
  • Making on-camera personele feel comfortable and respected.
  • Lifting, moving, and packing up a variety of camera, audio, and lighting equipment.

Post-Production:

  • Working with the Video Producer and the Video Editor on release dates and plans.
  • Basic video editing (Instagram posts, simple campaign videos, templated videos, holiday videos).
  • Working with other departments to create localized versions of certain videos to be used for THL UK, Mexico, and Japan.
  • Analysing released videos metrics to improve future content.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required Skills:

  • Experience scheduling travel shoots and events.
  • An ability to coordinate with multiple parties to ensure accuracy and flawless productions.
  • The ability to thrive in a team environment.
  • A history of strong communication with team members.
  • A thorough understanding of the Animal Rights movement and Animal Welfare issues.
  • Stellar written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must have a valid drivers licence and passport.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, in written and visual form.
  • Being capable of making quick, quality decisions is essential.
  • A can do, relentless and inherently positive attitude.
  • 1-3 years of video editing experience using the Adobe Creative Suite.
  • A desire to grow within a team.
  • Ability to multitask and juggle various demands at once.
  • Excellent organizational, planning, and time management skills.
  • A deep understanding of project management.
  • Familiarity with professional cameras, various HD formats, pre-production/planning, studio and field production, basic understanding of lighting/grip, script writing, and photography.
  • Experience with small format mixers, compression, EQ, audio recording techniques for studio and field, multi-track and waveform editing.
  • Background in digital video editing, still and motion graphics design, and video compression for multiple delivery platforms.

Desired Skills:

  • A rudimentary understanding of DSLR camera operation.
  • A background in Adobe Photoshop and/or Illustrator.
  • Professional experience in the animal protection movement.

Starting salary  42K Salary to commensurate with experience.
